What Authoritarianism Means by Thomas Zimmer in substack.com at https://thomaszimmer.substack.com/p/what-authoritarianism-means

I think Zimmer’s Substack is a good place to go for the “this is authoritarianism” argument and the more engaging and well-written perspectives emergent on the center-left. I share most of the fears here, but am also constantly thinking that there is an emotional and panic component that, while perhaps justified, has an impact on Democratic politics that I think often plays into the hands of the far-right at the ballot box.
Why Tariffs Are Good by Michael Lind in Tablet Magazine at https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/tariffs-good-trump-china

I think that Michael Lind is usually one of the most insightful thinkers on the right. I don’t always agree with him, to say the least, but generally think he is able to put his finger on important insights. Here, he seems to be engaging in an either entirely bad faith argument, or just a bad one. Effectively, this argument is “tariffs against China are good in some instances, therefore all tariffs are good.” I don’t think this is a good argument, but it’s an argument the anti-Trump team needs to intelligently engage with.

Just read this. It’s spot on. Elite liberalism has a lot to answer for; this isn’t all Republicans’ fault, it just mostly is.
Utah’s latest data and social media laws could change the world, Gov. Cox says by News From The States in News From The States at https://www.newsfromthestates.com/article/utahs-latest-data-and-social-media-laws-could-change-world-gov-cox-says

Like it or not (and I don’t), it seems conservatives are the only ones who are going to be able to actually regulate social media.
